The Rajya Sabha passed the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation bill, the bill also sailed through in Lok Sabha Tuesday. The bill aims to divide Jammu and Kashmir into two Union territories namely Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. With the division, there was some suspicion over India's legitimate claim on regions occupied by Pakistan and China. Following which rumors started doing rounds that India has abandoned PoK and disputed Aksai Chin with China.
However, the claim that the Indian Government has abandoned POK and Aksai Chin after bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir is false.
The brewing storm in the cup for Jammu and Kashmir came clear on Monday when Home Minister Amit Shah moved a resolution in Rajya Sabha to dilute Article 370 which provide special status to the state, introducing the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill.
The bill sailed through the Rajya Sabha on Monday and was cleared by Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Following this, the bill on Wednesday got accent of President paving its way to becoming law. The bill divides the state Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories – Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and brings it under the direct constitutional rule of Country.
With the state bifurcated into two Union Territories, there arouse some confusion regarding the PoK (Pakistan occupied Kashmir) and disputed border region Aksai Chin with China.
Moreover, the messages started doing rounds on Social media sites claiming that a bifurcation is a tool used by the government to distract people from the Unnao gang-rape incident. The user in the message alleged that, with the bifurcation of Jammu and Kashmir, the region occupied by Pakistan has now gone to Pakistan and that administered by China to Chinese.

On Wednesday when China criticized India’s move of bifurcating Jammu and Kashmir saying that revoking the special status of Jammu and Kashmir and carving out Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir would undermine China territorial sovereignty.
The Ministry of External Affairs on Tuesday responded The Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Bill 2019, introduced by the Government in Parliament on 5 August, which proposes the formation of a new "Union Territory of Ladakh" is an internal matter concerning the territory of India. India does not comment on the internal affairs of other countries and similarly expects other countries to do likewise.
